I played several shows - Austin at Maria's Taco Express and in Las Cruces, New Mexico at the High Desert Brewing Co. - which both went well. I also had some incredible food - in Amarillo I stopped at the Big Texan for a big ol' steak. In Austin I went to Franklin BBQ, which I had heard about for a while and I was glad that I was finally able to go - and it was amazing - and worth the hour and a half wait. The brisket was a taste like no other I've had - and hopefully I can go back the next time I'm in Austin.
It had been a while since I had done a road trip like that one. I was traveling for 2 weeks and covered many miles in my car. None of it seemed that bad - even driving from Austin to the west - which is no easy drive - it takes about 9 hours just to get out of Texas but the time and miles flew by. My car did well and after a stop in Tucson and Cave Creek in Arizona, I got back on the road and headed home. It felt good to get back into my own bed and get a good night of sleep - which doesn't happen often when I'm on the road. I made it back to LA just in time for Halloween
The next tour is in March and on this trip I'll be joined by my friend and fellow singer/songwriter Mikaela Dewar from New Zealand. We'll be playing shows in Long Beach, Jerome, Cave Creek, Flagstaff, Santa Fe, Denver, Boulder, Fort Collins on the Live@Lunch radio show, Taos - and then later I'll head east to St. Louis, Nashville, Knoxville, and Newport, KY.
